General Care

Rotate your rug every six months to distribute wear evenly. Place it on a non slip pad for stability and comfort. Vacuum regularly without using a brush to protect the fibers. Some shedding is normal when the rug is new. Never try to speed up shedding by rubbing as this can damage the fibers. Do not pull on any loose threads; simply trim them carefully with scissors.

 Vacuuming

New rugs can shed a bit of fluff, which is completely normal, and is not a sign that your rug is falling apart! Vacuuming regularly also helps to prevent dirt build up on the surface of the rug filtering into the pile where it can build up and cause increased wear. Vacuum at least once a week for low traffic areas, one to three times a week for medium traffic and daily for heavy or pet traffic. Vacuuming the back/ reverse of the rug occasionally will help remove grit build up that may cause damage to the foundations of the rug. If you are able to control the power of your vacuum cleaner, ensure that it is not at the most powerful setting. Do not use a cleaner head with teeth as this will damage the rug.

Blotting

When a spill happens, acting quickly is key. Gently blot the affected area with a clean, dry cloth, always working from the outside of the spill inward to avoid spreading it further. Never rub, as this can push the stain deeper into the pile.

Many of our rugs are easy to clean, meaning dirt and liquid sit on the surface rather than penetrating the fibres, making them simple to wipe away. For even greater peace of mind, our washable range can be cleaned completely at home in your washing machine.

Please note that the remedies we recommend are intended for minor spills and stains and should be treated as short-term solutions. For anything more stubborn or persistent, we always recommend consulting a professional rug cleaning service.

Loose Threads

From time to time, a thread may work its way loose from your rug, this is completely normal and nothing to worry about. If you spot one, resist the temptation to pull it. Instead, simply take a pair of sharp scissors and carefully trim it level with the pile.

Keep it Fresh: Your Rug Care Guide

Before washing, always check the care label to confirm that your rug is suitable for machine washing at home.

Do not machine wash unless the label permits. We recommend washing separately at 30°C using a mild detergent, avoiding fabric softener, as this can damage the pile. Once washed, line dry only and do not tumble dry.
